Becoming a nurse was never just a goal for me - it was a commitment I made to myself, my family, and my future long before I ever stepped into a classroom. The journey to becoming an RN wasn't straightforward. It was years of prerequisites, sacrifice, and pushing forward even when I was exhausted.

As a mother of two, I had to balance everything at once - working, providing, and showing up fully for my children while navigating the demands of nursing school. There were seasons where I was traveling out of state for school, while still maintaining my life back home, figuring out how to stay afloat financially and emotionally. It wasn't easy. There were long days, lonely nights, and moments where the weight of it all felt overwhelming.

I spent countless hours studying alone, becoming familiar with libraries across South Florida from Boynton Beach to Delray and Boca Raton, which, I'll say, has some of the best study spaces you could ask for. There were holidays missed, trips declined, and even relationships that changed along the way. At times, it felt isolating. But I stayed focused.

I had a vision and I refused to let anything take that away from me.

I'm the first nurse in my immediate family, and that means something to me. This journey wasn't just about earning a title, it was about breaking barriers, setting a new standard, and creating a different future for my children and my community.

Throughout it all, my faith kept me grounded. I give all honor to God, who is the head of my life. In moments of loneliness and uncertainty, my relationship with Jesus gave me peace, strength, and the ability to keep going when I felt like I had nothing left. That foundation carried me through.

One thing I've learned is that you cannot allow failure to be an option. When you invest this much into your future, you owe it to yourself to see it through. People will tell you to focus on one thing at a time, but I believe you can do anything you truly commit to. While in nursing school, I was also building my business, Invictus Concierge Nursing, because I knew I was called to create something bigger.

Now, walking into my role as a Registered Nurse, I feel aligned. This is more than a career, it's my purpose. To be able to serve others in a way that reflects my values, my heart, and my calling is something I don't take lightly.

To anyone on this journey: ignore the noise. Stay focused. Stay disciplined. There will be sacrifices, and there will be moments where you feel alone, but keep going. You're not just doing this for yourself. You're doing it for everything and everyone you represent.

And when you get there, you'll understand that it was all worth it.

Warm regards,
